Preparing for Climate Resilience

August 14, 2016

Back in Batug in Leyte. Super inspired after a full day of ecosystems study and a climate resilience lecture with Dr. Ed Mangaoang, Director for Climate Change Research and Development at the Visayas State University. Here with the Batug women's association, Batug Youth Movers for Peace and Development, and One Block for Batug, we are studying how to rehabilitate their eroding river system, how to generate livelihood out of bamboos and native trees they can cultivate and grow in their hazard areas. We also studied how they can make use of vacant land to cultivate valuable species both to regenerate their ecosystem and for profit. So wonderful to see the women energized and activated to take on leadership to make this happen! Our thanks to donors who made this precious activity possible!
